This is considered one of the best blackhead removal products these days. The Boscia Luminizing Black Mask is that great peel off mask that everyone’s using these days of which you must have seen some sort of viral video. (If you have not, then you are living under a rock or better, you actually have a life apart from the internet, so props to you on that!) Is it the best way to remove blackheads? Let’s find out.
Well, this is such a satisfying product because you can literally in one-go just see all the blackheads and white heads get peeled off from your face. There are cheaper versions out there but I personally don’t want to risk my face with cheap products. Better paying more than getting a red face!
What is it? And is it the best blackhead remover product (or mask) in the market?
A pore-purifying, peel-off face mask for blackheads with activated black charcoal for a visibly clearer, smoother, more clarified complexion.
Whether this is the best blackhead remover product, or not, is a unreasonable question. Different things work for different people, and to be honest this does seem to work for many. You might have to give it a try.
How to use it Boscia Face mask for Blackheads?
Boscia Luminizing Black Mask is a face mask for blackheads, and is fairly simple to use. Following are the steps on how to apply:
Steam your face to open pores and then dry the face with paper towel
Apply a thick, opaque, even layer to clean, dry skin – Avoid eye area, eyebrows, hairline and lips
Leave on for 30 minutes or until completely dry
Gently peel off the mask from the outer edges in an upward motion. So you have to peel off from the chin and upwards
Use once or twice a week
*Rinse off immediately if it causes a burning sensation or rash, better to test on neck first
In some cases this product didn’t work the first time, but on the second usage it worked better. Meaning the mask sucked out the blackhead and whiteheads more on the second try. This does not mean that you use the product every day, or even the next day. You always want to make sure you use this product with a few days gap in between because the peel-off is harsh on the skin.
If you feel like your blackheads aren’t being removed then you will have to pair this by using it with the tool extractor as mentioned above. So once you have peel off the mask and you still see the blackheads, it would be best to use the tool to press them out manually because at this very point they will be loose and end up coming out easily. This way is not ideal especially since this product is expensive, but at least your blackheads will be out for sure.
We’ve all been there, feeling at your lowest and then, one look, up at the mirror and there you see, those dreaded BIG (if you keep looking at them don’t they look huge?!), yet small, blackheads!
Now, not everyone can go to the salon every 2 weeks and try to get an amazing facial at a spa with technologically advanced blackhead removal mask, is there even such a thing?!
So for those people out there, who are looking for the best way to get rid of blackheads, this is for you!
Now how do you become a blackhead remover expert? Blackhead extraction may sound like a difficult process that can only be done in the salon, but trust me when I say, you can do just as good of a job at home, with all the right tools at your disposal (and some even lying in your kitchen!).
But first, don’t you want to know why you get these pesky blackheads that just ruin your day (but I’d say don’t let that happen).
What is a blackhead and How do they form? The hair follicle, also known as a pore, gets clogged with a combination of your skin debris, sebum and oil thus resulting in the dreaded bump. For some it could be abnormal excretion of sebum, for others it could be normal or less. Thank your genes for that!
But why is it black? This clogged hair follicle can be open or closed. If it’s closed then that’s a whitehead, and those are even more annoying, making your skin bumpy, yet not knowing about them! Coming back to our point, if it is open, that open clogged hair follicle, turns black because it is open to the air causing the sebum to oxidize, thus turning the naturally clogged pore black.
Who gets these? Because we all know that one person, who has beautiful skin and boy, will they never know the pains of blackheads! First things first, everyone gets blackheads, maybe some get them less and others more, but we’re all in this together, trying to understand how to get rid of them!
People who hit puberty causing hormonal changes – you just have to deal with this, go to the dermatologist if it’s out of control
People who have an unhealthy diet – you know you have to stay away from those fries!
People using products that block pores – ones be used for skincare or cosmetics. For e.g Coconut Oil, as great as it is for the skin, is comedogenic, meaning it will block your pores. So do your research and stay away from “comedogenic” products
People who have oily skin – for you it’s even more important to stay away from comedogenic products
Women having hormonal changes because of their menstrual cycles, consuming birth control pills or pregnancy
Where all can blackheads appear? Anywhere, where there are pores. So basically the largest organ of our body, (thank you skin!) has pores everywhere, face, scalp, back, arms, shoulders, thighs, legs, feet….butt!! You get the drift, right?!
So I did get carried away about telling you the facts on Blackheads, but I know most of you just want to know 3 best ways to get rid of blackheads and become a blackhead remover expert!
So without further ado, here goes – the 3 best blackhead treatments you’ll thank me later for:
*(As with any product disclaimer, all the products mentioned here onwards, please first test a small patch on your skin, if you react to it, please stop using it immediately…please!)
Best Blackhead Treatment # 1: The DIY Blackhead Remover
BAKING SODA – one of those things that you just have to have in your kitchen, because I’m telling you, it is God sent!! It’s that one magic ingredient that you put on anything and you will be shocked to see the results working.
It’s the best blackhead removal mask!
I use it for cleaning too, with vinegar, removes all types of grease! But this is not a homemaking article so as always, coming back to the point, here’s what you do:
In a non-metal bowl, mix 1 teaspoon baking soda with a little bit of water until it becomes a paste
Now it’s time to open your pores:
Best time to do this, is after a hot shower
Another way is to insert a hand towel into hot water for about 5 seconds. Take it out and squeeze out all the water, so it becomes damp and place it on your face for 10 seconds
Or just steam your face with hot boiled water
(Whatever’s easy for you, opt for that, because we’re all lazy in our own way!)
Apply the paste on your blackheads and surrounding that area, let it sit for 5 minutes
Next, gently massage in circular motions wherever the paste is, using only the index finger and middle finger together. You want to put little pressure, so as to loosen the blackheads from their pores
Using the earlier damp cloth (you can also use a paper towel) rinse it with warm water, squeeze out excess water that would drip and remove the paste using upward motions. So you want to remove from your chin to your nose, then from your nostrils up to the nose bone, in an upward direction
Once the whole paste is clear, rinse face with cold water to close your pores
Make sure you use a toner and a non-comedogenic moisturizer not leaving the skin tight, this goes for you Oily skinned girls too! A DIY toner that can be used is Raw Apple Cider Vinegar, dilute it equal parts with water and apply it with a cotton ball all over your face. A DIY moisturizer is Olive Oil, using a little blob all over your face
As you know with all DIY home remedies, they take time to show results, so don’t give up on them immediately. Give it, at least a whole month and then decide whether it works for you, or not. Once or Twice a week is more than enough to try this DIY Blackhead Remover.
Best Blackhead Treatment # 2: The Tool Blackhead Remover
If you’ve ever gone to the salon for blackhead extraction, you will see the staff use a thin metal blackhead removal tool that has a loop on both ends. It’s not rocket science and neither an expensive tool, it’s the blackhead extractor tool! This is the most important tool to own, if you suffer from blackheads but use it more than once a week. And just be careful, use it the right way or else you can scar yourself if done wrong. So what is the right way?
Be gentle, with anything related to the face you want to not get carried away in the process
Cleanse your face with your favorite cleanser (remember non-comedogenic!) using warm water
Open the pores further, using one of the methods as described above (under DIY Blackhead Remover point 2)
Place the loop from your metal tool, on to your blackhead, in a way that the blackhead is in the middle of the loop
Press down for a little pressure on one side of the loop (not full circle) and move the tool a little on the side to slide out the blackhead from the pore.
Tip 1: You don’t want to keep pressing down, which is the misconception, because pressing on your skin downwards will only cause a scar.
Tip 2: Imagine like your buttering a toast that’s the size of your nail, that’s the motion that should be used.
Tip 3: Press and glide ensuring the loop always surrounds the blackhead
Tip 4: Once done, don’t forget to sterilize your blackhead remover by soaking in rubbing alcohol, or hydrogen peroxide for 10-15 minutes.
Cleanse your face with a non-comedogenic product like the dermatologist approved CeraVe Cleanser
Splash your face with cold water to ensure you close your pores
Make sure you tone and moisturize your face. A great dermatologist approved toner is The Body Shop Aloe Calming Toner and a dermatologist approved moisturizer is CeraVe Moisturizing Cream
Here’s an easy short video showing how the extraction is done:
Best Blackhead Treatment # 3: The Product Blackhead Remover
Let’s be clear on one thing, you will not find any product in the market that would claim 100% blackhead extraction. Reason being, in some cases, skin excretes so much sebum, clogging the pore that without doing manual extraction, chances are high that blackheads will not come out with any kind of black head removal mask. So if any company claims that’s they have blackhead removal products, well that just may not be true for some of you out there.
Having said that, the product I recommend that is tried and tested might not be a literal sense of blackhead extraction but what it will definitely do, is deep cleanse your pores! And that’s always fun! So the idea is, if you keep using it consistently once a week (not more please!) you will guaranteed see results, where slowly steadily the blackheads will disappear. For me it’s the best blackhead mask out there. In some cases maybe it shows instant results but that all depends on your skin. So come on, get to the point, what is this magic product?
Aztec Secret – Indian Healing Clay! This is like a mud mask but much more deep cleansing because as it’s drying up on your face, you will start feeling your skin slightly tugging and pulsating, but don’t freak out, it’s all part of the fun. Meaning its’ working its’ magic! This is the closest thing you will come to a blackhead face mask that is out there. This is the best at home facial for blackheads that you’ll ever be able to do and you will thank me later, also for the price and quantity!
So what is it? The ingredient inside is calcium bentonite or in other words green clay. It works like a detox mask, highly absorbent, pulling out excess oil. And because the instructions say pair it with Apple Cider Vinegar, which has antimicrobial properties, it will help in fighting the bacteria that clog your pores. That means over time you may just see results of blackheads lessening! And aren’t we all here for that!?
And how do I use it?
As always, open your pores with one of the steps as mentioned earlier and make sure you wipe away any moisture, start with a clean dry face
1 teaspoon clay with 1 teaspoon Raw Apple Cider Vinegar, mix it into a paste-like form and apply a medium sized layer (1/4 inch) all over your face, keeping away from eyes, eyebrows and lips
If your mixture is clumpy then press it with your fingers. I just apply it with my finger all over the face, super easy!
Let it dry to the point where it’s still damp in some areas (I let it sit for half an hour, binge-watching Everybody Loves Raymond) the time states 20 minutes minimum. People who have dry skin don’t let it sit for longer than 15 minutes and I’d suggest to just apply in targeted areas where you are normally oily
Now it’s the tricky and messy part – do NOT try to wash it off in the sink because it will stop clogging your pores but will definitely clog your sink! So take a warm damp hand towel and wipe it all off, which you can later wash in the washing machine. You can also use paper towels, but you’ll have to use a lot
And because this mask is very drying, you have to (no questions asked) moisturize afterwards
Pores will shrink
Immediately helps in drying new Acne breakouts – and helps kill Acne causing bacteria for future
Deep cleanses pores, so chances of a blackhead removal is high
Brightens face the next day and reduces blemishes
Truly detoxifies, leaving skin feeling soft and smooth
Tightens your skin over time
Leaves face red like a bad sun tan and tender – but it will calm down after half an hour or a couple of hours
Very messy to take off
Will feel very drying afterwards
Very strong potent smell
And there you have it folks, these are the best 3 best blackhead treatments where you will not only be able to get rid of blackheads but it will help lessen them in the future too (and you’ll see a difference in your Acne too)!
If you use all 3 in combination you will have soft supple skin to enjoy.
Let me know if you try any of these tricks and how it worked for you. I’m really curious to see whether it works as great as it did for me!
